Associate Artist Manager
Position Details:
Full time, in-person.
Starting salary ranges $40,000 – $50,000, negotiable contingent on experience.
Office hours are 10-6pm, Monday to Friday. Some evenings and weekends expected to attend events, as well as travel.
Most likely to work primarily in the concert division of our company.
Location: Toronto
Duties/Responsibilities:
Interact daily with presenters (operatic, symphonic, etc.) and performing arts organizations globally.
Navigate relationships with artists consistently, fairly, and in line with our values.
Managing contracts for our artists’ engagements, inclusive of their drafting, reviewing, editing, and negotiation.
Collaborating with presenters on casting and artist selection, preparing suggestions for upcoming engagements.
Managing auditions, meetings, and coordination between clients and producers.
Work independently and collaboratively on a mix of special and recurring activities.These can include planning presentations, international visa applications, event organization, conference preparation, etc.
General office duties, including answering calls, taking messages, filing documents, and database management.
Contributing to long term planning and marketing ideas.
Supporting the leadership of the company, as well as collaborating with them on company wide projects, and delegating work to the administrator and other team members.
Aid in the application for and preparation of grants.
Participate in conferences and organizations of which we are members, as well as travel for artist engagements.
Qualifications:
Resident of Canada and/or authorized to work in Canada.
Knowledge of operatic and oratorio repertoire, symphonic works a bonus.
Knowledge of the professional performing arts world.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with competing tasks and demands, ability to work with a team as well as independently.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Dropbox/Google Drive, Adobe Acrobat.
Must not currently be working as a professional performer or aspiring performer.
Ability to remain calm, objective, and professional in high stress situations.– Demonstrate great sensitivity and capabilities to handle confidential situations with professionalism.
Bilingual (French and English) an asset, as well as any skills in German or Italian.
Strong persuasion skills and proficient in written business communications.
Education/Experience/Training:
A minimum of 3 years of experience in talent representation and/or classical arts administration is preferred.
There are no formal academic credentials.
