A celebrated and versatile musician, conductor, composer, and concert producer, Francis Choinière is considered one of Canada’s most active conductors, leading over 70 performances each season. Recently, his career has seen him take the podium at some of North America’s most prestigious venues, including Carnegie Hall, Boston’s Symphony Hall, and Philadelphia’s Marian Anderson Hall. This fall, he makes his European debut, touring five cities across Europe, marking an important milestone in his international career.

A recipient of the prestigious Prix Goyer Mécénat Musica 2023 and the Christa and Franz-Paul Decker Conducting Fellowship from the Hnatyshyn Foundation, Francis Choinière has collaborated with many leading international artists, including Andrea Bocelli, Sarah Brightman, Patrick Watson, Ramin Djawadi, Hans Zimmer, Ute Lemper, and Mario Pelchat.

Francis Choinière is Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Orchestre Philharmonique et Chœur des Mélomanes (OPCM), conducting major choral and symphonic masterworks and opera. He is also Principal Conductor and Co-Artistic Director of the FILMharmonique Orchestra. As co-founder and president of GFN Productions, he is deeply committed to expanding and developing classical music audiences through innovative symphonic programs presented alongside films such as Fantasia, Star Wars, Titanic, and The Lord of the Rings. He has additionally performed alongside guest artists such as Patrick Watson, Half Moon Run, Ghostly Kisses, Pierre Lapoint, Marc Hervieux, Louis Jean Cormier, Ute Lemper, and Mario Pelchant.

He has contributed to numerous album recordings and film soundtracks, including The Four Seasons by Vivaldi and Piazzolla, Requiem and Phonèmes by François Dompierre, Arise (CLANN), Noël à l’Opéra (LYRICO), and Hidden Assets (Michel Corriveau). In February 2025, he released his first EP of original piano compositions, titled Réflexions. In early 2026, Francis was named Artistic Director of ATMA Classique, leading the record label’s future direction and managing their catalogue of over 780 albums spanning a wide range of musical styles.

Francis Choinière completed a master’s degree in orchestral conducting at McGill University under the guidance of Alexis Hauser. He further refined his craft through masterclasses with renowned conductors such as François-Xavier Roth, Yoav Talmi, and Colin Metters.
